Types of Trapped Emotions

Personal Emotions – From your own life events (e.g., childhood trauma, heartbreak, loss).

Inherited Emotions – Energies passed down from parents or ancestors (epigenetic-style energy imprints).

Absorbed Emotions – Emotions you pick up from other people around you (empaths are especially prone).

Pre-conception/Pre-natal Emotions – Believed to be trapped even before or during before giving birth

What Is the Emotion Code?

The central concept is that emotional experiences, especially unprocessed or intense ones, can leave behind “trapped emotions”—balls of energy that can lodge anywhere in the body. According to the Emotion Code framework, these energies can disrupt your physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Muscle Testing (Applied Kinesiology): Practitioners use muscle testing to communicate with the subconscious mind and identify trapped emotions.

Identifying the Emotion: Through yes/no muscle testing, the practitioner finds the exact emotion, its origin, and when it occurred.

Releasing the Emotion: Once identified, the emotion is released energetically—often by running a magnet down the Governing Meridian (a pathway in Traditional Chinese Medicine) while focusing on the intention to release.

Emotional Healing: Helps process unresolved grief, anxiety, depression, or anger.

Physical Relief: Some report relief from chronic pain or tension after emotional release.

Improved Relationships: Removing emotional baggage may improve how people relate to others.

Mental Clarity & Focus: Freeing trapped emotions may lead to clearer thinking and decision-making.

Self-Empowerment: Gives individuals tools to access and work with their subconscious minds.

Important Considerations

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS

The Emotion Code is not a substitute for medical or psychological treatment.

Evidence is mostly anecdotal, not clinically proven by mainstream science.

It may be best viewed as a complementary or supportive modality for personal growth or emotional wellness.

Absolutely. Let’s go deeper into the Emotion Code—its theoretical foundations, methodology, mechanisms, applications, and criticisms—so you can get a clear picture of how and why it is used.

The Process

How the Emotion Code Works

Step-by-Step Breakdown

  • Muscle Testing (Applied Kinesiology)

Muscle testing is used to access the subconscious mind.

The practitioner asks yes/no questions while applying light pressure to a muscle (often the arm).

If the muscle remains strong, it indicates a “yes”; if it weakens, it indicates a “no.”

This process supposedly allows the subconscious to guide the session.

  • Identifying the Trapped Emotion

The practitioner uses a chart of 60 common emotions (grouped in categories) and narrows down the emotion through yes/no questioning.

Questions often include:

  • What emotion is trapped?
  • When did it occur?
  • Is it yours, or inherited?
  • Where is it trapped?

Releasing the Emotion

Once identified, the emotion is released energetically.

The release is done by rolling a magnet or even the hand down the Governing Meridian (a concept borrowed from Traditional Chinese Medicine), The Governing Meridian runs from the upper lip, over the head, and down the spine, Practitioners believe the magnetic field magnifies the intention to release and disrupts the energetic imprint of the trapped emotion.
